Just came across this review on Pocket Gamer for what sounds like a 2d plain game that has a lot of features in common with what little I know of x3. Might be worth a look for only £1.79

I wonder if there is trading in this game?
If its just combat, count me out, I only shot at people for the reputation to buy more profitable items.

You can play as a trader, bounty hunter, policeman and others - I bought it and need to spend a good couple of hours with it to grasp the basics (just like x3 but with no training).

It is actually a remake, I think, of a 2003 pc game of the same name.

looks not that bad
